CAFU R&D Center is designed by EAA-Emre Arolat Architecture as a hub for the distinguished researchers of CAFU.

CAFU R&D Center is intended to be a Technology Park-wide facility, which will provide a platform for researchers to engage with fellow scholars in the different professions planned to be a part of SRTIP.

To promote a walkable city and forge connections with the neighboring community, the Industry and the University the ground floor is characterized by an Urban Spine — three storey height, with visual correspondence to Labs, Ateliers and Offices, defining a walk accompanied by art objects and also seating areas.

Above street level, the predominant skin of the CAFU R&D Center is glass and a smart metal canopy with kinetic louvres that act according to solar conditions. The contrasting materials serve different functions while creating a unique visual identity for the building. Also in keeping with SRTIP’s goal of creating an attractive and sustainable environment the CAFU R&D Center’s smart canopy will produce energy gain up to 25 %.

So often in science the boldest, most life-altering discoveries happen as a result of unexpected and fortuitous collaboration. We wanted to create a place where new ideas will flow through our building’s open spaces, stairways and corridors, fueling scientific discoveries that otherwise would never have the chance to flourish.

The design of the CAFU R&D Center responds to this program by the incorporation of the CAFU Showroom and the CAFU Garage as the heart of the center; in interaction with the visitors —the University, the Industry and the researchers.

The CAFU Offices, visually and physically connected to the Urban Spine and the alluring heart of CAFU Showroom&Garage are designed by clustering meeting rooms, studio spaces and focus rooms around the cores at the 3 levels and ringing them with open-office areas with interactive spaces situated at the corners.
