Emre Arolat Is In The Akaa Steering Committee
Emre Arolat will serve in the Steering Committee of Aga Khan Award’s Fifteenth Cycle (2020-2022). Established in 1977, the Award is given every three years to projects that set new standards of excellence in architecture, planning practices, historic preservation and landscape architecture.
The Steering Committee is chaired by His Highness the Aga Khan. Together with Emre Arolat, the committe includes:
- Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa (President at Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Manama)
- Meisa Batayneh (Principal Architect at Maisam Architects and Engineers, Amman)
- Sir David Chipperfield (Principal at David Chipperfield Architects, London)
- Souleymane Bachir Diagne (Director at Institute of African Studies, Columbia University, New York)
- Nasser Rabbat (Aga Khan Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge)
- Marina Tabassum, (Principal at Marina Tabassum Architects, Dhaka)
- Sarah M. Whiting (Dean at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Cambridge)
EAA-Emre Arolat Architecture was previously received the Aga Khan Award in 2010 for the Ipekyol Textile Factory in Edirne, Turkey. Arolat also served on the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Master Jury in 2016.
