Sancaklar Mosque is one of the five projects awarded with the biennial prize devoted by Marmomacc to stone architecture.

Now at its XIV edition, the International Award Architecture in Stone – biennial prize for architectural works in natural stone – returns once again to Marmomacc.

Curated by architect Vincenzo Pavan, the award is a study effort implemented by the Marmomacc Observatory within the huge panorama of international stone architecture in search of projects – from city buildings to residential contexts, from restoration work to urban re-qualification tasks – they interpret the world of stone through new techniques and languages in full respect of the existing landscape.

The event also includes a special “in memoriam” award dedicated to an architect of the past. For the 2015 edition, the jury assessed 31 works of architecture finalised over the past two-three years in 18 different countries. After thorough analysis and extensive discussion, five works were selected for their architectural quality, expressive use of stone materials and type of design, considering them represent a clear and significant panorama of the best achievements on an international scale.
