Museum Of Ethnography In Hungary Competition

EAA-Emre Arolat Achitecture is selected to be among the 15 architectural studios, alongside Herzog & de Meuron, MVRDV, BIG, Bernard Tschumi Architects, Dominique Perrault Architecture, Sauerbruch Hutton, Coop Himmelb(l)au Architects, and Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), to compete for the design of the Museum of Ethnography in Hungary.

The Liget Budapest Project has selected 15 architecture and design studios for an international competition to design the forthcoming Museum of Ethnography in Hungary.

Though French practice Vallet de Martinis DIID Architectes was previously selected to design the museum last year, a new competition ensued after the government decision to relocate the planned site.

Firms now competing for consideration include Swiss studio Herzog & de Meuron, Rotterdam-based MVRDV, Danish firm BIG, New York–based Bernard Tschumi Architects, Paris-based Dominique Perrault Architecture, Berlin-based Sauerbruch Hutton, Vienna-based Coop Himmelb(l)au Architects, London-based Emre Arolat Architects, Rotterdam-based Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), as well as Hungarian firms Közti Zrt., Napur Architect, Bánáti + Hartvig Architects, and Balázs Mihály and the local BUTE Faculty of Architecture.

The competition will also announce two additional contenders that have yet to be chosen. An 11-member jury will select the final design, which will be revealed next May.
